Hey Jeremy!
I am one of those who likes clean chips. I use a very soft old toothbrush. I do not use a new hard bristle. I pick one that says "soft" with a nice large head - as they come in many sizes. I then wet the toothbrush with warm water and apply a tiny bit(half a pea) of liquid Dial softsoap. I then run the toothbrush quickly under the water to wet it a little more. I place the chip on the counter and begin working the brush in tiny circular motions. I start at 12:00 and work clockwise till I get all around the chip and then I go backwards around the chip the same way. The circular motion in both directions helps to get the dirt out of all the crevices no matter the angle. I then do the center and a quick over-all soft scrub. When that's done and I rinse it off to check it - If I like it - I flip it over and do the other side. I also check the edge and run the brush around it - other wise you will sometimes find a dirty ring around the center third of the edge. If the chip is filthy I may wet it first and let it sit for a minute before scrubbing. I then towel dry. I do not usually clean "hot stamps".
I have used 4 or 5 different kinds of softsoap and I can tell you that they are not created equal as far as harshness goes. Some I have found to be much gentler than others. Right now - as I said - I am using "Dial".
That's what I do.
Peace,
Don
