The blank dovetail chips look like this, Thomas. Borland had them in inventory when his store closed. I bought a lot of each type about 10 years ago but most are now gone. This is an old scan I still have around that I added the gold markings to; there never was a hotstamped chip like this. Dovetail refers to the way the chips are molded in two pieces; the joint resembles the dovetail joint in cabinet-making. The chips in the bottom row are not dovetail, but show how plain colored chips could be put together to resemble a chip with inserts. If this chip were made with a center insert, it would appear to be a pie chip; several of the Borland commemoratives were made this way.
