...and I think this is all anyone would be comfortable with if they read this in a price guide/catalog/inventory sheet.
A term for such (I've not noticed in the USA) with some Europeans with similar situation is "emergency use."
One such example: One nite, many years ago; the casino Grand Cercle Villa des Fleures had reason to trot over to the "cloak room" to fetch their tags in order to use on a game. What was substituted for jetons on the table were cloak room tags... and though the tags did have the casino name embossed (with a tag number/VESTIARES) -- there was of course no denomination of any kind, whatsover, on the piece. Without the cataloger's information regarding this "emergency use," nobody in their right mind would have even thought those cloak room tags were used to place bets.
There are many other "emergency use" examples, some with "typed-on-paper" casino names affixed to a plaque used at another casino... or a completely differnt plaque with unknown monograms used in Grand Cercle Aix-les-Bains, for another example...
