Leaving the "attributed to" can give someone an idea of where it may have been used or where it is from. However, I believe a new collector in casino chips may collect only certain types of chips (location specific, denomination specific, type specific, casino specific, etc.) and this "attributed to" may confuse them (very rarely does anyone new to a hobby collect everything in that hobby). If it is an "unknown", then it should be listed as such.
Like many before, people will post messages on this chipboard inquiring about a chip they have that may be in one or both or may not be in any chip pricing guides. Usually, several people will respond to assist that person with indentifying what they have.
The guides should simply indicate what has been proven or is factual and leave the assumptions and speculations to the collectors.
