" If only the Chip Rack would remove the "attributed to" from their guides/pricing, I might consider using it. The chip either "is" or "is not" from the casino/gambling establishment. If it can not be proven, then simply leave it as "unknown at this time"..."
So what you're saying is that we should change "attributed to" to "unknown at this time"? Or are you saying we shouldn't include chips that we don't know 100% are Nevada?
Sorry, but this just won't work. There are plenty of chips that were 100% attributed to Nevada that have since been proven wrong. Just this week, I entirely eliminated a casino from TCR.
Unfortunately, this is not the world of coin collecting, where the mintages and provenance of material is a matter of public record. Sometimes there is guesswork involved. Usually it's educated guesswork, but sometimes it's abusive self-serving guesswork. As the authors, we have to sort it out as best we can, often with limited information.
The bottom line is that "attributed to" is not going away. It's the best way to describe a chip that is thought to be from Nevada but has not been confirmed.
