Emil "Bill" Romano

River Vale — Emil "Bill" Romano, 68, a longtime resident of River Vale, formerly of North Bergen, died on Friday, Oct. 8.

Before retiring in 2001, Bill was a member of the River Vale Police Department where he was a captain. He was also an Army veteran.

Beloved husband of the late Ann E. Romano (nee McDonough). Devoted father of Lisa and her husband Todd Adamek and Kelly Romano. Dear son of the late Rose Ivin. Loving grandfather of Damien Adamek and the late Summer B. Adasko who were the sunshine of his life. Dear brother of Enna and John Ivin and the late Joseph Ivin. Devoted uncle of Brian, Charlie and Annie McNamara; Kaitlin, Megan, Brendan, Liam and Fiona Walsh; Colleen Finneran; Christopher and Justin Ivin. Great uncle of Cameron, Ashlyn and Ben McNamara.

Service at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, on Monday, Oct. 11 at 10 a.m. and interment at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. The family will receive their friends on Sunday, Oct. 10 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial gifts can be made in Bill's name to The Shannon Jones Trust, c/o Michelle Glaser, 801 Westwood Avenue, River Vale, NJ 07675.
