Hello, I got some chips from a friend in San Diego on consignment. These are the last of the Alcazar chips. $10 each (plus $2 for postage on the entire order -- 1 to 6 chips). Alcazar -- 1940's-50's San Diego CA card room, now closed-- condition is pretty good for these chips. (note: "C" is better than it looks: after taking the scan, I removed that dark circle-spot with my fingernail.)

The Alcazar was a card room club at 842 4th Ave, San Diego CA (opened in the 1940's – closed now). There once was a partnership at the Alcazar which terminated under strained conditions in 1945-46, resulting in the name “Jack Shivel” being scraped off of the top of every chip but a few which survived (I don't even own a chip with the "Jack Shivel" name on it). So the name “Willie Green” (the other partner) remains on the bottom of the chips. Return privileges.

On the internet I found : "Alcázar. Word of Arabic origin (Al-Qasar) that means "Fortress". In Spain, it is usually used to name castles with residential function. Examples: the "Alcázares" of Segovia, Toledo or Ciudad Rodrigo; "Los Reales Alcázares" of Sevilla. It is also used to name royal residences, even if they are not fortified. The word appears in the names of some towns, as "Alcázar de San Juan" or "Alcazarén" (lit. "Two castles")"

Nothing much to do with the chips, but there is an "Alcazar Garden" in San Diego in Balboa Park in San Diego. There is also The San Diego Opera, which has been ranked by Opera American as one of the top 10 opera companies in the nation. The company also has an excellent reputation aboard. CONDITION: Used condition – most of the Alcazar chips have burns on them. These six are better than most.
