I thought some of you might be interested in my Atlantic City adventure cashing in chips this past Sunday. I had many, many duplicate Limited Edition and common AC chips in my collection gathering dust. As most of you know, there are not a lot of new AC chip collectors in the hobby. I figured I would cash out of these (around $300 worth) and put the money toward some higher end house chips I need.
I parked at Caesars, then went north and hit Bally's, Resorts, Taj, and Showboat. I then turned around and backtracked to Trump Plaza, Showboat, and Hilton. It was probably a 3 mile walk +/- by the time I was done.
Some interesting tidbits:
- During my walk south at around 8:30am, a women had her purse snatched on the boardwalk in front of Trump Plaza by a guy on a white bicycle riding by. From about 200 yards away I saw about 10 cop cars with lights on race on the boardwalk, gather some info, then race back on to the adjacent streets. When I got to the scene I heard a security card say he'd hate to be caught riding a white bike in AC right now, because the cops would beat them down (lol).
- I asked a security guard at Resorts where the cashier was, and he got uptight and questioned why I wanted to know. I showed him my bag of chips, and he backed down from his original aggressive stance and pointed me in the right direction. I was dressed well and clean shaven. I can't imagine what was going through his mind to get hyped up like he did. Must be boring on a Sunday morning.
- I got reminded that Bally's Grand chips do not get cashed at Bally's, but rather at the Hilton, which acquired them.
- A bunch of homeless/underprivileged people still hang out/sleep on the boardwalk. A panhandler on a bike (not white) bugged me for some money, but rode off when I said no. Lots of not so nice sections immediately off the boardwalk by Tropicana and Hilton.
Overall I got a lot of exercise and got to see the Ocean.
