At a swap meet in MN today, I found a gentleman selling a whole case of canceled Club-Cal Neva roulette chips. The case held about 10 rows of about 50 chips each... so at $300 for the whole set, I think it was a pretty good deal.
There were a couple items on top of the case, so together we moved the items and he opened the case so I could look at them. To his horror, three whole rows of chips had been stolen between the time he had set up shop for the day (10 am or so) and when we discovered the missing chips (around noon).
Heartbroken, he offered to sell me the remainder (well over 300 chips) for $150, but I as much as I wanted to, I couldn't make that kind of purchase at this time. I was able to buy a few singles in order to make his set a nice round number again at $1 each.
I don't know what the single chips are worth on the open market... probably not much. So it's tough to see a perfectly nice set of chips destroyed by someone who looking for a quick score.
