I don't believe that to be the reason. If I saw something in an auction I wanted I would bid whether you are related or not.

If you feel there is a lack of response I can think of a few other reasons. Many members are selling stuff not buying due to the economy.
Also many long time members have a memory of somebody called Greg Bryson.
