Dealers do work with each other or "conspire" (don't you just love this word) set prices on chips. Same chip, same condition at three different chip dealers' tables and all were marked at the same price and all quoted the same thing: "that's what it's going for these days". Really? No recent postings on E-Bay or any chip collecting web sites for that matter. How do they "all" arrive at the same price unless they "work with each other"?! Do you honestly believe that all the chip pricing guides' chip values are based solely on what E-Bay sells them for? No, they get their values/prices also from the "DEALERS"! I'm not saying it is wrong or right, but that is the way it is... especially, since both chip collecting guides are owned/written by dealers.
However... all chip values and sales of chips are directly influenced by the economy now. Economy up, prices go up... economy down (like now), prices go down. Plain and simple. It pretty much works that way for everything...
