but if the chips didn't sell on , I would think that the reason would be related more to the starting bid. I don't know what the opening price was for these on , but highly I doubt that the small group of Playboy collectors found here would band together & impact the sales of those chips. There's too many people on that collect chips that don't know of this club or this website and they still would have bid if not "spooked" for one reason or another. I would think that a more likely scenario is that, in some people's minds, these particular chips can be associated with that huge find of Playboy chips from a year or two ago. Look what happened to those prices after that find. I would just have a tendency to believe that many people would shy away from bidding, especially if the starting price was a bit high (I don't know what the start prices for these auctions were). And with a quantity of these chips found, obviously the anticipated value would also take a hit. The other part of the equation is the economy...while the real high-end stuff seems to have retained its value, the mid-range stuff has not.
I wish that it would have worked out well for Jeff & collectors alike...
