experience with your chips.
I cant defend peoples negetive comments but I can say that would be out of the ordinary for the group of chippers I know (And I know a LOT or them).
Here is my opinion on your situation and comes from many years of experience in collecting and this hobby.
You must be commended for not trying to hide the number of chips you had. Never in your posts on this board or even if your ebay listings did you try to hide the fact that there were multiples of each chip available. Many others would not have been that honest and tried to take advantage of other collectors.
The best way to determine true value is in an open auction environment. You listed these chips on Ebay and they were seen by thousands of people across the world. Not only people who contacted you from this board, not only people in the club, but people all over the world.
What did they say the value of these chips were? The 2 $100, sold for slightly over that, the $500 got just one bid of $250 and the $25 sold for around $50.
In my opinion thats a pretty good representation of what the true value to collectors is. In fact I would be willing to bet if you were to continually list these chips they would bring slightly less each time as you would start to run out of people who are willing to pay $100 for a chip and would eventually end up with a price somewhat lower.
Obviously it is your choice what to do with the chips. Many people have choosen to keep chips that they didnt even collect rather than part with them for less than they felt they were worth and thats entirely understandable.
A few things to keep in mind.
1) They are not Nevada chips and only a limited base of people collect Bahamas chips
2) They are not really that old. Unlike a Vintage chip from the 50's these Bud Jones chips seem to be less desirable.
3) Much like the Playboy chips from AC, people are wondering how many of them will really become available. We all know how many you have, but what if whomever has the rest of the cage saw these listed on ebay and decided to pull that old trunk out of the attic. I realize that is a fear on every chip, but the AC Playboy find is still fresh in the minds of collectors and what used to be $500 chips turned into $5 chips overnight.
I am sorry you didnt get what you thought they were worth on Ebay, but it is what it is.
The Ebay bidders have set a true value and not much can be done to change that.
just an opinion of a long time collector.
