...was the first "celebrity" I ever saw who used a custom made rubber stamp to "sign" autographs. We brought him in for exhibition games with anyone who wanted to pay a few bucks to play him a game, much like you describe, at the Rocky Mountain Open about 30 years ago.
Some of the pool players back then were pretty colorful characters. "Machine Gun" Lou Butera strolled into the tournament arena dressed in a pinstriped suit and fedora with a cue case shaped like it would fit a Thompson machine gun. There was no doubt who he was!
