BJ’s Lounge and Casino was licensed …

Harvey and Gene are correct

After Gene’s statement above basically saying because it was in Harvey’s book therefore it was licensed I could not accept because as a retired Engineer (who had to deal with fact in certifying aircraft) just because it was in Harvey’s book made it so.

I have access to a very helpful person at Nevada Gaming who in the past has been able to provide us with licensing information on several casinos. So on Sunday I fired off a email requesting licensing information on BJ’s Lounge and Casino, Cotton Pickin’ Saloon and Jim’s Bar / Fred’s Bar – this morning I received a response.

“BJ’s Lounge and Casino opened 06/01/1978 and closed 03/31/1979”. Done and done with this.

The information on Cotton Pickin’ Saloon was somewhat unexpected as far as licensing was concerned – “…opened as a restricted location on 10/01/1977 and closed 05/01/1980, then opened as a “non-restricted licensee on 05/02/1980” (my note - only one day after closing) and closed 06/30/1981, reopened as the Cotton Picker (restricted) on 08/01/1981 and closed 02/28/1982 then opened as Cotton Pickin’ Bar (non-restricted) on 03/01/1982 (my note – again, only one day after closing) and closed on 06/30/2004.”

The response for Jim’s Bar and Fred’s Bar – “…never had an active license but had applied and was at the same location as BJ’s Lounge and Casino” so does this mean that Jim’s Bar / Fred’s Bar chips are illegal’s???

I do want to say that Harvey’s Book is fantastic and very helpful and without it I don’t know what we would do. To spend so much time and travel to record all of the Nevada Casino’s is just outstanding.
