If my calculations are correct, in order to get a 7 stars card you would have to play max credits on a $5 video poker machine for about 135 hours. That is $25 per spin, 3 hours per week, every week of the year. And even if you could find a 9/6 video poker machine (which I don't think any Harrahs property has) you could expect to lose at least $10000 if you played perfectly. The benefits of those high end cards are sure nice but it is not worth it to play extra just to get a better card.
I have a little battle going on with Hollywood in Tunica now. They recently started a policy of no free drinks at the bar unless you have a high level card. So I asked at the players club how to get one. They said I could go to the poker room and they could get me won. Not true said the poker manager. So I went to VIP and asked and apparently the only way to get a high level card is to play slots. You can't get one by playing any amount at table games only slots. I even wrote the General Manager about this and several other issues but have not heard back from him after 3 weeks. Guess I am going to have to pay for those drinks at the bar.
