grin Playing at Lake Tahoe grin & seeing Fred Lamb

Cathy and I went to Lake Tahoe for a few days to celebrate the 40 year anniversary of our first date 8-8-70, it was to see the musical HAIR in San Francisco. Cathy was 18 and I was 20, we have been together since then.

So here is how it went. We arrived on Sunday around 1pm and I played Hold ‘em at Harvey’s from 2pm till 6:30pm. At 6:30 pm I had won enough money to buy dinner at The Sage Room steak house. This is one of our favorite stake houses. The wood inside is from the old Harvey's Sage Room in the 40’s. The hanging light fixtures are Indian motifs that were hand painted by Harvey Gross’s sister in-law who was Howdy Herz’s mother. Howdy told me he helped his mother with the painting. The whole room is a must see for a walk through, a drink or a great dinner. Day 2 we drove around the beautiful lake and had a picnic lunch at the top of Emerald Bay, another must at Lake Tahoe. If you have the time you can hike down to the beach and Vikingsholm at the back of the bay. We went on to north shore and went in the casinos there. I picked up a few of the Hyatt’s new snappers. They are the same pattern as the last except they are bolder and have a gloss edge. When we returned to Harvey’s for a little more gambling a poker dealer told me that a Chipper had played Omaha H/L but forgot his name. It was Fred Lamb and we played the next night for around 4 hours sitting next to each other. It was a lot of fun telling him about all the casinos at south shore. I have made one picture from part of the talk. The next day we went on Harrah’s boat the Tahoe Star. We went across the lake and around Fannette Island in emerald bay and saw the Vikingsholm a 38-room mansion that is one of the finest examples of Scandinavian architecture in the United State. We have toured the home before and we both feel it is another must if you get the chance. We went to Reno Tuesday night and we were treated to dinner by Roy & Dena Brennan, great food and great friends, thanks guys. We had a fabulous anniversary and here are a few pictures to prove it.
