Update and Errata regarding The Orleans NCVs...

In a previous post I erroneously described a blue/white, 1/4-pie, 5000 NCV as being a part of The Orleans poker room tournament chips. It turns out that the scan I had was produced from a bad scanner. The kind that does not handle hot and flourescent colors very well. The scan was of the blue/peach, 1/4-pie, 5000 NCV.

In another development, I was told that the 1 and 5 NCVs are no longer being used in poker tournaments, but the 5's are in-use with the Pit for blackjack and pai gow tournaments. It is also possible that the 1 NCVs are also being used in those tournaments. However, about six months ago I saw a poker tournament there and they were using the old, original, hot-stamped roulette chips. (I will have to ask around the Pit on my next visit.)

I have also seen the 1 and 5 NCVs being used by cage cashiers as markers for sums of money being moved back and forth to the main bank. The yellow, 1 NCV represents $1000 and the 5 NCVs represent $5000.

Lastly, I was told by one of the several Poker Tournament Managers that there is now a 25,000 NCV! Described as a "stinger", meaning it is a 1/2-pie chip, I could not find an entry for this chip in the "Chip and Token Report" of Nevada Gaming. However, this individual states that he/she saw just one of the chips and the remainder are locked up.

Hmmm, chances are the chips are Paul-Son made, and since GPI does not ship chips that are not approved by Gaming (right Gene?), it might be a prototype the employee saw. Anyway, it was stated that the popularity of Deep Stack Tournaments caused them to order the 25,000 NCV chips. But they will not be used until next July for the Orleans Open Tournaments.

Thanks for looking!

Jim
