Re: NCR For Train Buffs a train laying it's own tr

My dad worked for the L&N for 50 years. He was born in 1900, and started his career laying track the old fashioned way, one cross tie at a time. He would have been fascinated by seeing this awesome track-setting machine that virtually replaces all track gang men and gandy dancer operators. From laying rail as a young man to his retirement as superintendent of bridges, he was a by-the-book railroader. He used to say, "God, I love the smell of coal burning in the morning." His reference was to the steam train era that the Louisville and Nashville abandoned in the mid 50s. Thanks for sharing the video, I enjoyed it very much and guess a few cinders are imbedded under my skin.
