... it was not the point or my intention to have people feel sorry, or in some cases, a little angry at me. Your post is close to the point, but, why should there be any incentive to join anything? You should do it for your own reasons to get what you want/need out of it. One should not have to be motivated, pushed, or given something extra to do or join something. Being a part of something like a group or club already has its own rewards built in (most of which you mentioned), but there shouldn't have to be something extra...

P.S. Don't you just love these little "smileys" (they can "motivate" people into responding as well)?
