The Chip Board Archive 20

To be absolutely honest, I have no idea.

For nearly 20 years I religiously picked up one of every pack i could get my hands on, no matter what it was. I stopped picking up packs in the mid 90's

When packs started getting $2-$3 each and companies were putting out hundreds a year, I stopped collecting them.

I still remember when Topps was the only set of Baseball cards you could get each year. Then in 1981 Fleer and Donruss made sets as well so I had to collect 3 sets a year. Then in 1989 with Upper deck it started to go crazy. Special issues, numerous makers, too many issues to collect. I lost interest just like so many others did in the early 90's becasue there was just too much.

Very similar to what started happening with Commemorative chips. While LE's are great in bringing people into the hobby, when there are too many of them issued, people start to feel overwhelmed and give up on collecting.
