Re: Cookies - an assumption I made
In Response To: Cookies - an assumption I made ()

I would bet that only 1-2% of PC users even know what a cookie is, David. I find I have to review a bunch of documentation each time I have to deal with the subject.

I found only one cookie with the phrase "chipboard" in it, and deleted it. When I opened IE again, I didn't get thechipboard as my home page as I ususally do. Typed the URL and all was as it was before. I still get every post flagged as NEW. Where does the last info on the time I logged on get stored if not in the cookie that I deleted. Maybe this will all sort itself out given time, but I don't know what else to do in the interim.

I even tried setting my PC clock ahead a day, hoping that the next logon would be a fresh on. Didn't seem to change anything. I also changed my home page setting in IE to just www.thechipboard.com. Didn't change anything except when I reopened IE, it asked me if I wanted the old or new home page to be used (selected new one).
