Illegal Of The Day Texas

PF-Fidel Perez
Box 51
San Deigo, Texas
No date of delivery on record.

This one brought back fond memories from the 1960's and 70's when I traveled the mid east playing poker for sometimes up to 100 hours a week, in private games. I was in several games that were raided by local police. One in Covington, KY raided by the FBI! Also in two games, one in Ohio and one in Ky that were held up by guys with shotguns.
I first played in Texas Hold-em games in the mid 1960's if I remember right.

Fidel Perez: Could he have played in the "Cradle Of Texas Hold-EM?

Haven't found much about Fidel Perez. He died at San Diego, TX in 1985 age 62.
He was arrested in Corpus Christi in 1961 when the sheriff raided a poker game
taking place in a private residence (not Perez's); the sheriff said: "What we are after
are those games which go on for several days and nights, where professionals sit in,
where a cut is taken from the pot and where refreshments are served the gamblers."

San Diego is about 50 miles outside of Corpus. The highway between both places passes
through Robstown, said by some to be where Hold'em originated--although I've never seen any proof.
Titanic Thompson lived in Corpus in 1961.

Special thanks to a friend for the info on Fidel.
