I can't find it now but somewhere in my files are a number of emails from one of the Zanzabar owners sons or grandsons about the misprint chips. From memory most of them were returned to the distributor and reran. The owner had kept some. It was only a few of each denom. If I remember right he had the original bills with the return documented.
IMO, they are classic error chips.
