To my way of thinking the background story adds to the interest as well as the value of the chip. Originally Dale coded the chip as an antique chip, no more or no less than any other antique chip. Best example I can give as to how the history adds to its value (especially if there is historical significance in the story) is what happened to the set of ALCAZAR chips which recently sold for over $340 on ebay. Those were chips that were defaced (ala the Binions chips). However, the story of the Alcazar chips was quite interesting and made the chips much more desirable.

A lot of heretofore unknown c&s have been attributed to New York. I guess that makes sense as most of the wealth in the country resided in NY. C&S, afterall, were the most expensive poker chip that could be bought at the time.
