Re: Looking a little closer
This Oasis chip started appearing mysteriously in collector circles in the waning days of the Dunes existence, meaning when it was still open. I seem to remember Bill Borland to be the first one selling it, and then Bill Akeman. Nobody seemed to know the story behind it, but everybody got it from someone else, nobody got it from the casino. I have come to assume that it was made for some special Dunes promotion, but then rejected because the "no cash value" designation was almost invisible. Then Borland, who used to work at the Dunes, and had already appropriated all the Dunes 10c chips, which were specially made for a short-lived game, got ahold of them.
