The three overlapping metallic mesh lunettes are transparent. Probably they're (along with the lame ribbon) used to simulate the precious metals.

Cancelled as a precaution, I guess... or probably to illustrate the layering of materials used in construction. I count 13 layers including the built-on tulle, throughout; though as many as 16 have been used in recent production.
