Re: Al, How long have you been dealing in

Price and value are often two different animals. I have bought items at a low price that the value exceeds the purchase price. That happens when the seller wants to get a quick sale or unload it, and the buyer has a specific need or want for it.

I have notes that are worth pennies to anyone else but are priceless to me because of how, where, or who I got them from. The price on those notes will NEVER be met on an open market.

How much is water worth and how much is gold worth? It all depends on the situation. Water could easily be worth much more than gold in certain conditions.

eBay does not set the standard, it only reflects current and historical transactions. The greater the resources used for historical data the more reliable it is, but it STILL cannot predict future markets. Even if eBay is a bad or an unethical service it still reflects what a buyer is willing to pay in order to gain possession of the item. Once it is obtained, who cares the about the personalities or quality of the service?

Value and price are sometimes subjective.

The ‘Value’ of your gutter note may surely be $150.00 but the ‘price’ on the open market will not prompt a quick transaction but actually delay it in the current market. Just as some of my ‘priceless-to-me’ notes would not sell either. Here's a priceless one..... BOTH SIDES are printed UPSIDE DOWN!!
