but to the athletes presently on the team and those incoming, while the Coach goes free, can leave and get a huge increase in pay at another school or pro organization. The problem is that this kind of undercover payment is one that cannot be stopped by the institution...if a kid wants to collect money and doesn't display it, how is the coach (AD & Institution) to know? When I was involved with the Syracuse athletic program, any time an athlete came up with a new car we investigated...and once found that a coach's (not football or BB) wife had guaranteed a loan to an athlete on her husband's team; we turned ourselves in and got hit hard in that sport. That we deserved.
