I consider a chip that anyone can order (without alteration) out of a catalog as generic. Conversely a custom chip is made to a customer's specification and is non-duplicative.

I believe that the Florida Palms (that some sell as Cuban!) and the Sailing Ships were ordered by anyone with access an H.C. Evans or Drake & Co. (did they have a catalog?) catalog.
