The term GENERIC has been used to describe this broad group of chips and in my opinion it has been over used. I think everyone will agree that it is hard to think of your Crest & Seals as Generic chips. When I think of a Generic Chip, I think of plain chips and or numeral chips. The definition of Generic is "Relating to or descriptive of an entire group or class; general." Most Antique chips were not ordered for a specific place or person, but they do fall into a specific collectible chip class if they have been Seymour Coded. You are right Rich... when I click the tab GENERIC on your web site and all of these beautiful chips pop up, it is hard to believe that they don't deserve a better title like SEYMOUR CODED CREST & SEALS. I do not think of myself as a "Generic Chip Collector." I am a Seymour Coded Antique Chip collector.
