I noticed on the internet that many have the same problem you have and it is always with IE8. Someone had luck with the following fix:

Go to Tools again and select Internet Options. Make sure the box for 'Delete Browsing History on Exit' is UNCHECKED. Then click on the Delete button. Then UNCHECK 'Preserve Favorites website data' .. Then click the Delete button. After the data has been deleted, go back and CHECK the 'Preserve Favorites website data' box.
