Just for the flow of chips... The day shift front line cashiers in most instances will not have that many chips turned into them from guests, usually not as many table games going on day shift - with the exception of weekends. It could have been a case where the cashier did not have many chips in his/her drawer. Usually the chips are sold to the main bank during the shift and at the end of the shift. The process of selling chips is called a "BUY" in most casinos. Most of the time chips, checks, markers etc are sold off in a buy before the drawer is transferred to the next cashier.
I don't know what their policy is... I would just ask to talk to a supervisor next time you are there to see if they can hook you up.
