NCR....Galarraga's not so perfect game
I was so disappointed to here that the Commissioner wouldnt overturn the decision and give him his "earned" perfect game. Although, I am on the fence about replay and where it should be used, I felt this was a clear case....Jim Joyce admitted the error, it wouldn't change the winner of the game and except the last two batters, wouldn't change the stats...ect. BUT then a friend who was debating it with me asked, what if it went the other way. "What if the batter was clearly safe and the umpire called him out and gave the pitcher the perfect game, would you want the commissioner to step in and take the perfect game away from him after the fact?" So in thinking about it, I guess MHO is that once replay is used, it should be used at the time and not after the conclusion of the game. Maybe they should add an umpire in the booth that can be consulted when these plays happen so that it doesn't hold up the game. OR...maybe they should leave the human element in it as they always have. I'm not looking to start a debate on the board. I just expressed my views clearly the other night and I still feel bad for the kid as he earned it but now am having second thoughts about my comments.
