How do you suppose they made this chip? It is a reverse diecut inlay, meaning the white is a piece of paper or plastic. There is nothing to hold the center of the "R" in place.

I can think of only two ways:

Place a separate piece of "white" paper in the mold first so what shows through the hole in the R is the paper, not the green chip. If not cut from the same material as the diecut inlay, it could appear darker or lighter with time.

Place a tiny piece of paper inside the R before completing the molding. This would be very difficult to do precisely, and the paper would probably have skin oil on it from the handling. Maybe that's what we see in the darker color.

We need SteveP's opinion as the master of the die-cut inlay.
