Lets say that a vendor is giving away a free trip to 1 of 10 employees. Your odds in thayt case are 1 in 10
However if they decided to give away 5 trips instead to those same employees, each employee now has a 5 in 10 chance of winning.
Now if the trips are different, then you are correct that each employee has still has only a 1 in 10 chance of winning he trip to Paris and a 1 in 10 chance of winning the trip to Rome, ect.
However the chance of winning ANY of the trips is 1 in 5.
At least thats how I have always calculated odds.
