I just located an old BC Wills catalog that shows an example of a stick c&s. Wills calls them Regular Seal and Crest as opposed to Special Seal and Crest (ie something with a club logo on it)

Wills states: "Seal and crest checks are the most attractive checks made. They offer complete protection against duplication as a record of each design and color is filed in our protective vault. No two racks are ever produced alike. By changing the color of the inlay and the color of the check in the REGULAR Seal and Crest we can produce hundreds of different combinations."
