I bought this '72 XLH in 1990 with Black Jack winnings from a trip that year to Bally's in Vegas. Groundhog's Day winnings!
The other picture was taken just South of Wickenburg on the way back from the Laughlin River Run in 1992. The grin I had in the picture was because the friends in the car were taking pictures from the front seat while the passengers in the back seat were holding a BUD long neck out of the back window for me to take.
This is a picture of the same bike in 1991 before the "front end" work and "porker pipes" and all the other go fast goodie were added. At the same '92 Laughlin River Run, I took 2nd in the 1000cc Class at AVI with this bike but the bottom was balanced, top punched out to 50, trick cams, roller rockers, ported & polished exaust, and the bike was pushing 1250+cc. I snapped the drive chain in the final run and took 2nd place. In 1993 I was hit from behind on this bike while waiting for a fire truck at a blind intersection. It broke my back in three places and I am lucky to be walking today.
