• December 15, 2009 Low Demand Forces Room Closures: As we'd heard rumored last week, it's now been officially announced that the Sahara is closing two of its hotel towers through the slow winter season due to lack of demand. When visitation picks up, the rooms will be brought back into service as required. The Mirage is also taking a chunk of its rooms out of service -- we were told a total of 14 floors, but this has not been verified, although a reservations agent confirmed that some rooms are being closed for the time being.
