Gene seems to be getting a lot of attention and I'm jealous. Seriously, though, I'd like to throw out my thoughts on this topic, which is probably overdue considering I'm the Officer-At-Large of the Slabfree club.
I don't think a request to be removed from the list has to necessarily come from the person on the list. However, I do think that some sort of request should come in, along with some rationale as to why we should consider it. I'm not terribly interested in getting into a cycle of adding and removing people from the list depending on which way the wind blows and is best for their business at a given moment. I'm also not going to proactively call each person on the list and ask if they sold any slabs in the last day/week/month/year so I know whether to remove them or add them to the list. If it is bugging someone, let them come to us. If they don't care, why should we???
In my opinion, if someone got into slabbing once, they'll probably do it again if they sniff a dollar out of it. If someone has a change of heart about what slabbing means to the hobby and pledges not to be involved with it again, I have no problem removing them from the list. My goal in all of this is to keep my hobby a hobby as much as possible. Slabbing is a real threat against that.
