The nice thing about 1/2 is that it keeps the action going. You can always bet whatever you want, but some players stay with what would be a marginal hand because the blinds are so low, but once you have a good hand, you can bet higher, they will fold, and you get the blinds and or the pot. Higher priced games keep a lot of people from playing.
