Tony Cornero's SS Rex gambling ship actually operated off shore of Santa Monica, 1938-1939. The chip shown was made in 1939, and was used on the ship. When Tony also opened the SS Rex in LV in 1945 it's possible, but not clear, he used some of the gambling boat chips there. To confuse things more, a similar large crown chip, same color, but with a gold hot stamp anchor was made for the LV club in 1945.
