I believe (correctly or not) that if left to their own devices/desires those who dominate capitalism would be overcome with greed. We as consumers pay for the greed & we as stock holders demand the greed (profits)!

Government acts (sometimes over-reacts, sometimes fails to act) either in response to the voice of the people or in a way slanted towards the party in charge. Neither party has a monopoly on the "right thing to do" and history proves that both sides have made good & bad decisions. Given the alternatives (communism, dictator, anarchy) I'll take our system of government.
