I love the Cal-Neva. So many stories about the place...The glamour of the Sinatra era; The place burned down and was rebuilt in 30 days; The tunnels to hide the illegal booze during prohibition... In June of 1980 Fresno millionaire Ronald Cloud and his wife Jesseman were licensed to operate Cloud's Cal Neva Resort. In December of 1981 gaming officials raided Cloud's and took possession of 45 "faulty" slot machines. OOPS! Cloud denied knowledge of the wheel teeth that had been ground down to reduce the number of jackpots...eventually he was fined $325,000 (the largest fine ever levied against an individual in Nevada gaming history, at least to that point), and was issued a one-year limited license. In 1982 an employee of Cloud's was taken into custody for a $163,000 burglary at the casino...reports said that a hand reached through a hole drilled into the floor of a casino vault and grabbed the money! After repeated extensions of the license hearing, on October 26, 1983 the hearing was finally held and officials refused to renew Cloud's license. Gaming agents shut down the casino that very day.
Don't know a thing about the Victory Club in Pittman. TCR says it opened in 1952 and closed in the 1950's.
Don't know a thing about the Gold Rush, either...but the chips are nice looking!
Might have to clean this one up a little...but I love the color combination. Good'n'Plenty anyone?
