I'm probably in a similar position. I have a small collection of Vegas and Nevada chips which is worth a few dollars but not much, but my main collection is my UK collection which is quite extensive but again not hugely valuable as there is a much smaller group of collectors. Many I have picked up for really low values but which I am real happy to have because there are not many of them about (or at least I haven't seen many), and some I know I paid a little too much for but am still happy with my purchases, although I doubt my family would get the same back that I paid.
But the fun is in the chase, and the good friends made along the way, even if I have only met a handful face to face.
None of my family share my collecting passion, although there are some pieces which I think they would keep as they look good - the large framed selection of Vegas chips on the wall, and some of the fruit machine (slot machine) glass that I have that just reminds me of my youth (and adult years for that matter) and isn't expensive - I managed to pick up about 20 pieces for 99p (that's about 65c) last week, even though it involved a 3 hour drive (in fact that is why it was so cheap - it's just not worth paying for shipping on heavy glass, so I had no competition on Ebay).
And so if/when it comes to sell? Well my wife knows about the chipboard and Ebay, so maybe one day my collection may make it's way here......but hopefully not for many years yet And hey, my daughter is only 9 but loves Vegas (she's been several times already, before we head down to the coast and Disney and Seaworld), so maybe she'll pick up the chipping bug too!
