The chips were actually delivered a long time ago (Im going to guess, from memory, a week before xmas last year).
For a long time there was speculation over whether they would ever use them.
Then I received a promo flyer in the mail indicating that if I booked a 2 night stay using the promo I would be eligible to buy a wincard pack, with 6 chips, for $20.
I told Gene, who establised they were just put into use. Cant remember if this was just before by June visit, or back in Feb.
Anyway, I toyed with the idea of going to the front desk, booking the room for later that week, presumably collecting the wincard chips/voucher or whatever, and then cancelling the booking 24-1/2 hours out so it didnt cost me
When I went there to book and asked how I go about getting the chips, they told me I had to pay for the full two nights in advance, it was non-refundable, and that a voucher would be left in the room. I had to take that voucher to the players club to buy my chips.
They also told me that the promo only applied to non-Vegas residents. Needless to say I did not book the room
A similar situation existed for the Palms PB club NCV's. I think the promo was a 3 night stay. I dont think it was restricted to non locals as I recall Andy Hughes received the promo also. Would have cost $200+ to get 2 x $100 ncv chips. Id figured a 'value' of only $50-$60 each on the chips so didnt bother. A certain cage person who I know then told me there was no problem exchanging a $100 for 4 x $25. I could have probably made out ok on that deal but then forgot all about going back to book it.
I recall Gene asking me on my last morning in Vegas if I had remembered to do it. My last chance would have been on my way out of town that lunchtime but I ran out of time as I had to drive to LA and catch Jay before he left work. That would have been last November, G2E week. My longest ever trip to the US
