amtrak loses money...always has....the us government-which means taxpayer-which means you and me-subsidize amtrak
approximately $200 for every 1000 travel miles....that means san francisco to chicago amtrak gets about $400 of our money....
the average amtrak ticket gets about $42 in subsidies.....every time amtrak sells a ticket you are paying part of it.....a free market
company would only survive if it made a profit......do you enjoy buying tickets for other people...do you enjoy buying other people
a new car or a new house........i don't.....
