We spent a night in Louisville, so had to visit Churchill Downs

We went to Gatlinburg, checked into our hotel, then decided to drive over the mountain to Cherokee NC to check out the casinos. The desk clerk had warned us to be very careful as it had snowed and was still icy. The Garmin said it would be (I think) a 35 minute trip, so we started up the mountain. After being on the road for nearly 2 hours, we'd gone about 12 miles!! With all that time on the road, there was lots of time to take pictures... We gave up and decided to turn around and go back. As we headed down, we saw that there were only about 5-6 cars behind us and there were no cars coming up. When we got down we discovered that they'd closed the road. Good thing we didn't get over the mountian, we wouldn't have been able to get back across!
