is the name used by casino employees to describe, in a game of blackjack, a hand that has an ace and card worth 10 points (a 10 or a face card). In other words, what you or I might call a blackjack, they call a snapper, or at least some people do. Also according to Gene, chip collectors borrowed the term to refer to chips with a $2.50 denomination because they are used to pay off blackjacks with bets that end in 5 ($5, $15, $25, etc.). Although a $7.50 chip could be used in this way, I have never seen a chipper refer to a $7.50 chip as a snapper. I have seen 2.5 in other currencies referred to as snappers, though.
