Best books depends on what you collect
In Response To: More newbie questions ()

If your collection contains a substantial number of Nevada chips, you will probably want The Chip Rack, 11th Ed. and The Official U.S. Casino Chip Price Guide, 4th Ed. (referred to primarily by its writers Campiglia & Wells, or C&W for short). There are great guides for many more focused collecting areas (the Northwest books by Steve Goodrich and a book by Luke Rapley; antique chips by Dale Seymore; international and obscure locations get the Gaming Table; Atlantic City and Puerto Rico books by Archie Black; California by Armin Pfander; Australia/New Zealand by Kallman and Knestle; Wet Chips by John Long; and older books on riverboats by Greg Susong; the Dutch Antilles by Ralph Pollack and a single Curacao volume by Ginsberg and others I am forgetting. You can download great volumes on illegasl by Ed Hertel and California (no prices) by Dick Staeffler. There are others I am forgetting, but you get the idea.
